Why does my (Verizon) Droid hang after syncing a couple of hundred tracks?

I've received many reports confirming that replacing the stock SD-card with a good one resolves this problem. If you're affected by the problem, I feel comfortable recommending you contact Verizon to get your SD-card replaced, preferably not by another "stock" SD-card.
